Re[2]: Record locking

     Try doing a FEOD op after the update. This forces the program to 
     flush any buffered writes. However, it is my understanding that RPG 
     won't buffer if using random access (Chain). I'm not too sure that 
     this would be your problem.

The record is locked by the previous update and it just won't let go for 
anything.
     
I am not updating any logical files so it is not that.
     
     
     
Override your PF to OVRDBF FILE(XXXXXX) FRCRATIO(1).  The AS/400 is waiting to 
do a bunch at once.
