A question about *VARYING string. -- RPG400-L

I've ascertained that:

WrkAlfa30
C                          EVAL                 %len(WrkAlfa30) = x
(where x = for example 10)


C                          MOVE                WrkAlfa30          WrkNum30_9



* WrkNum30_9 = 000000000000000000000.001000000



Any explanation???????
