Good old Level Breaks. First is your primary file sorted by year? If yes, remember that one a level break indicator is set on, so is all with a lower numbers. Therefore L2 will set on L1, L8 will set on L7,L6,L5,L4,L3,L2,L1 regardless of weather the data changed for the lower level breaks or not. Remember the level breaks are opposite of the sort. Sort field 1 = level break 8 Sort field 2 = level break 7 . . Sort field 8 = level break 1 Christopher K. So, I added another indicator, but now the total by year is fireing every cycle. 0020.00 IARFILE NS 13 30 CN 31 CM 0021.00 I 1 2 ARCOMPL8 0022.00 I 3 7 ARCUSTL3 0026.00 I 19 270ARINV#L2 is how it was, I just modified the line: 0078.00 I 216 2170ARINYYL1 by addign the L1 indicator. (There are lots of other definitions, I just showed the ones applicable). +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
