I can't answer you specifically for the AS/400, but in general I would have to say, it depends. In general, the owner of a folder has rights to the files in that folder, unless specifically denied rights. There can be other folders inside the main folder that does, or does not belong to the main folder owner. Then the same rules would apply to those subfolders. My Folder (Owner Bob) My Other Folder (Owner Bob) Not My Folder (Owner Jim) Your Folder (Owner Rick) As you can see, even though My Folder is Bobs, there are 2 other folders under there that do not belong to him. In which case Jim and Rick would have respective rights to them. Again, this is generally directory security and is used in most OSes, so I'm just assuming it's also used on the AS/400.
