I agree with Nancy that it was a difficult situation to describe. I wasn't
at a terminal either, just at home thinking about the problem. Which is a
handicap when soliciting input. :-)

I should mention that the subfile was 2 free form fields 77 characters
long.  When the comments from the additional file were used, they were
added to the first field one at a time as long as there were records. So
I'm thinking Ron is right in that adding SFLDROP would have to be done
programmatically.  And I like Dave's idea, maybe if we have a slow spell I
can try to implement it.

Where I work, though, we can't always spend the time I'd like to really
nail things like this.  (Not billable, you know.)  We solved the solution
by Help Text saying if the user chooses to see comments, the Add'l Info
will not display reliably.  Not a solution to my liking, but a real life
compromise.  

Thanks for the input.  I'm just a couple of years out of school and
subfiles especially can still confuse me. <g>
