This won't work.  He wants all blanks when the value is zero, but *NO*
zero-suppression when the value is NOT zero.  I.e.:

DATE80 = 00000000  ===>  print blanks '        '
DATE80 = 19991225  ===>  print '1999/12/25' (assuming edit word '0bbb/bb/bb'
where b=blank)

If he just uses the edit word without conditioning, a value of zero will
print 000/00/00.  Therefore, he needs to test the value and set an indicator
before printing it, and condition the output of that field in the printer
DDS.
