------------ <snip> As a side question, How many would like it if Rochester changed the Data Link function so that we would see the URL field as just a Character type field in RPG? Something like we were able to do in RPGIII with DATE/TIME/TIMESTAMP data types? I think if we lean on Rochester they would do that for us. They just don't know we need it. John Carr </snip> --------- Yes, I would like to view the Link as a character string and/or retrieve the linked object. We are looking into this for images of canceled checks that will be scanned and placed in the IFS. Christopher K. Bipes mailto:ChrisB@Cross-Check.com -------------------- Chris, I would like to petition Rochester(the DB2/400 people) to provide this capability. I would very much like this. I was talking to Brad Stone about reading a data base record that contained(via data link) the URL of things like images, etc and using that URL in eRPG writing dynamic HTML. I think it would help. I then could have a Product Master record and it would contain the URL for the image of the product right in the Product Master record. If I delete the Product Master, it would automatically purge the Image IFS file. Neat stuff. Lets send letters and email to Kent Milligan, Mike Cain, and anyone else in DB2/400 world and tell them we need to be able to see the Data Links as character fields in our RPG programs!!
