This being the RPG list, I assume you want to do this in RPG <grin>.  One
possibility is AFP (Advanced Function Printing)  It is language-independent,
being coded in printer file DDS.  For more information on AFP, check out the
MIDRANGE-L archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l-archive/
Search for the words "page segment"  and "afp".  As Anton mentioned, we can
probably be more helpful if you describe the specific problem you're trying
to solve.
