     I have recently come across the same problem and found a solution as
below.


A           digits(THEDATE)



B          SUBSTR(A,7,2)||'/'||
             SUBSTR(A,5,2)||'/'||
             SUBSTR(A,3,2)

C           CURRENT(DATE)

D           date(c)-date(b)


     The result will give you the an answer such as 10322 which stands for
1 Year 3 Months and 22 Days Difference
