In a message dated 00-03-21 17:06:41 EST, you write: > I understand that a signed cant have a edit word, But I would like to know > why does it work when you define the variable as signed in the reference > file???? Because the system is smart enough to strip off and disregard attributes defined in a reference file that have no meaning in the current context. If you assign color attributes they are ignored in an RPG program, but used in a display file. If you define input attributes they are ignored in a print file, but used in a display file, etc. HTH, Lance +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
