 I agree with you.  It also would "break" some rules of figurative constants.  Example:

D Text          S   10

C               Eval    Text = *ON

 Text will contain '1111111111'.  What would the value be after this:

C               Eval    Text = *NEGATIVE

 It's either invalid or would have an arbitrary value assigned.
