One thing to keep in mind is IBM support for previous releases. IBM has kept
support for the V3R2 and V3R7 release through the Y2K transistion, but will
shortly drop ALL support for any of those versions. V4R1 and V4R2 will not
be far behind.

Just a couple of stray thoughts

If Jim needs to port the source to an earlier release then he and others
could form a team to do so. I have gotten lots of replies saying the
same thing so Jim is not the only one concerned about porting it to an
earlier release.
Once we get the base source we can see where we should go from there.
