Would it help to set a prior CHAIN value and prior CHAIN results to know if you
should bother to do the test (either SETLL or CHAIN) AGAIN?

If the file is such that you have several entries in a row that would perform 
the
same chain, saving the last CHAIN would probably do the trick.  If you run
through all 1,000 before you start over again, maybe a array lokup may fill the
bill.

BTW, you could sort the array after each add and binary halve it to provide a
quicker LOKUP.
