I'm not sure that it's measurable in a meaningful manner.  Cycle is faster 
than a read loop, period.  I've been told on this list that OVRDBF can invoke 
a larger blocking factor than can the automatic blocking factor of UP files, 
but I still find UP to be faster than overriding a file to its' maximum 
blocking factor and performing your own reads.  Perhaps Hans can elaborate?

Problem is, the "cycle" just isn't practical these days unless it's a "quick 
fix" program or will behave as one.  I'm just curious as to why the cycle is 
_STILL_ so much faster than the code most of us have to use...
