Ron,
Hide the details of how to extend and shrink the array by putting it into a
procedure:

eval ReturnCode = AddElem(NewElement)

In the procedure, do the test for "off the end" and do the memory allocation
there.  It leaves the mainline almost as clean as:
eval Index = Index + 1
eval MyArray(Index) = NewElement
