I believe that the starting date is 01/01/1900. From my experience, the
number should only be 5 bytes, i.e. 34578. This would put the date some
where in 1994 (34578/365 = 94.73 years). Using the number 3457899 results in
an extremely high value (3457899/365 = 9473.69 years). If the number were
3457899, the starting date would have to be approximately 01/01/-7474 (-7474
+ 9473 = 1999). One of the problems with reversing the process may be that
the original process may be incorrect if it results in a number such as
3457899.

Keshava, if your resulting numer is 3457899, your formula/algorythm is
incorrect.

Sincerely,
Bill Graziano

*Scratches his head*

RPG/400 does dates, right? Is your 1999/12/12 stored as a date or a
number? In RPG/400 can't you add one to a date like you are trying to
do without all the shenanigans?

This number you are coming up with, 3457899, how are you getting this
from the date? Is it # of days since 01/01/0001?

<snip>

But, to answer your question, you'll need to run your date to number routine
in reverse. What formula/algorythm are you using?

Regards,

Jim Langston
