I think, that if you wanted users to release service programs like the unix,
linux or Microsoft users have done.  There has to be more as/400 in the home
market for the hobby/student/corporate programmers.  And the only this is
going to happen is if IBM releases OS/400 for the x86 (INTEL/AMD).  So
everyone with a PC can see how  the OS is compared to what they currently
have to chose from for server and business solutions.  But we all know that
would cut IBM's share of the hardware market, so this option would never
fly.  Who knows, maybe the OS would just crawl like a snail on a PIII Intel
chip.

Any way, just a thought....

But if the OS/400 was priced for the PC market like Solaris or NT is, I
would definitely buy it.  Linux is free so that really doesn't count.
