John, the only instance I know of is when the "one long field" is named file= Input, record = inrec, field = infield DATADS DS 1 250 infield 1 50 Name 51 100 address 101 250 get the drift? The work is in correctly identifying the field positions for the data. Currently, I simply move the field into the DS and was wondering if there was a way to implicitly do this (call me lazy).
