Bob, >Yeah, we all love the colons, don't we? So what is wrong with colons? They are not codepage sensitive. You're big on consistency, and RPG has plenty of precedent for using a colon as a separator. What's the big deal? Do you think people can't learn to use () for extenders in C specs and : for extenders in CF specs? If they can't master that, then they probably won't be using CF specs anyway. Maybe you could teach a class on it. <g> First you complain that the proposed syntax could introduce future compatibility issues for the first time in RPG history. Then they change the proposed syntax to alleviate the possibility and you complain of "typical switch and bait" and act like they shouldn't change it. I don't get it. Bob, I hope you don't take my posts as personal assaults. I know you are widely respected and have helped *lots* of people become much better RPG programmers. More than I ever will. And you will continue to do so. I admire and thank you for that; it is certainly welcome and needed. I have nothing against you personally, and I hope you understand that. I do, however, have a hard time understanding your vehement stance against free-format code. It seems particularly unusual knowing you are also well versed in free format languages. Maybe the problem is that I haven't had the exposure to training the masses. Or that I've never been to the Toronto Lab or been involved in IBM design committees.
