Hans, >You've had the ability for years. They're called procedures. I've said numerous times that (IMHO) subprocedures are the single best enhancement to the language yet. I love them, and have written service programs with lots of different routines for string handling, date handling, etc. But I'm inhibited from writing many of the routines I would like by not having operational descriptors for numeric fields. As David Morris likes to point out, if we had these we could do lots of things we can't now. I realize that this isn't a Torronto issue and is out of your control. Too bad we don't have people from Rochester which are as receptive and helpful as you and Barbara, et al. For V3R2 systems where I can't use %Edit() etc, I would dearly love to code my own generic replacements. And I do have routines which use QECCVTEC and QECEDT etc, but they are less generic than I would like. But I don't want this to sound like a complaint (except maybe of Rochester :). I am *very* glad CISC systems didn't stop at V3R1 where they didn't have subprocedure support! Keep up the great work, Hans!
