I think we mostly agree. A couple of years ago, at the height of client server frenzy, we ported a couple of key applications from the PC network to the 400 (where the data was, anyway.) Strangely enough, they worked better. I'd still like an IDE (and one that's not optional at extra cost) that includes the kind of project management (the productive kind, not the stuff that makes the cute charts) that you get with PC development tools. -----Original Message----- From: Scott Klement [mailto:infosys@klements.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 1999 7:50 AM To: RPG400-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: RPG IV debugger On that, I agree wholeheartedly. This is also true of many things on the AS/400. You get slightly less feature-rich tools than you would on a PC. And often, the cost of setting them up on a PC is a lot cheaper as well. Of course, on the other hand, the AS/400 stuff tends to be a lot more stable, when programs finally DO crash, they give you a way of finding out WHY... Thats why I stick with an AS/400 for my business :) Joel Fritz <JFritz@sharperimage.com> wrote: (snip) > The sad truth is that both are almost as good as the debugger Borlan > bundled with its budget line of compilers 10 years ago.
