Mohammad,
The screen fields should have an attribute of Mandatory Entry, and/or
your program should be validating Screen 1 before moving to Screen 2. The
first would stop people from leaving the fields blank, the second puts you
in control and if the field isn't filled in or filled in incorrectly you
send them back to Screen 1 to get it right.
As to you frustaration with error messages, welcome to the club. But
when you get the message, just do a HELP or F1 and get the second level
message. This is a lot better (relitively speaking) and spells out what
the RPGxxxx error is and where in the program you bombed.

Subject: ENTER improper & ERROR Id help

hi everyone,

i had a couple questions:

-what sort of logical error am
i looking at if the ENTER key works
regardless of whether or not you fill
in the required field on scr1 b4 progressing
onto scr2?

-also, where can i find out about the
errors i get on the DISPLAY ALL MESSAGES
and ADDITIONAL MESSAGE INFORMATION screens?

i mean, it's pretty damn vague to me when i
see that "error RPG0221 caused pgm1 to stop"
you know? how can i find out what RPG0221
means? or what a particular message id
means, ie "message id RPG69001'

and ofcourse i'm interested in online
help..

regards,

Mohammad
