WRITE does not work on Rec fmt name.

hi,

i was coding an example out of 
judy yaeger's rpg/400
book. i was coding in ILE though.
anyway i only have one error it is:

File in factor 2 does not have allowed file 
type for WRITE operation; specification is
ignored.

now this write operation is on a record 
format name in a pf and yaeger says that
is what the write is used for. so why the
error? i mean i used the update op-code on
this same record format name without any
problm. so what gives?

if it helps here's the exact line of error:

WRITE SECTIONSR

sectionsr being the record format name
ofcourse..

i'd very much appreciate any help.
