  • Subject: Multi-Column Subfiles... What was IBM thinking?

I was wondering if anyone has figured an easy solution to the following
problem.

When using a multi-columnn subfile, entry will go from left to right. But,
loading and reading will go from top to bottom.

If we wanted to display entries in entry order, this really messes things
up. For example, if we have a 3x3 subfile and enter numbers like this...

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

When we reload the subfile, it will be displayed like this.

1 4 7
2 5 8
3 6 9

This really confuses the user, especially when the grid of the subfile is
something like 5x10. Has anyone figured a decent solution for this? I have
some ideas on how to do this, but it would require some really nasty
programming that could hurt the integrity of the program.

Thanks.
