Ok I think, it answers my question, Thank you for the atention, Silvio Santos. ---------- From: bvining@VNET.IBM.COM Sent: Tuesday, November 24, 1998 3:08 PM To: RPG400-L@midrange.com Subject: QPDSPLIB ?! Assuming you want the layout of *PRTF QPDSPLIB so that you can process the report in an application, I would recommend you instead look at using the List Objects (QUSLOBJ) API if you want the object list or the Retrieve Library Description (QLIRLIBD) API if you want the library size, number of objects, authorities, etc. Both APIs can be found in the Object APIs chapter of the System API Reference. *PRTFs are not considered formal programming interfaces by OS/400 and as such can change without warning across release (or sometimes even PTF) boundaries. *PRTFs are also often tranlated into other languages as you move from one country/language to another so you cannot rely upon column headings or even column positions. Most developers find these two considerations to be sufficient to avoid *PRTF application processing if at all possible. As DSPLIB does not provide for *OUTFILE support then using the appropriate APIs is the way to go. If you need the details of QPDSPLIB for some non-application reason I would appreciate more detail on your needs. Though I doubt you are going to get, from IBM anyway, much more detail on the *PRTF (in terms of encouraging you to use it that is).
