When I need to do this I create two data structures, both with an E in pos 22
(external) and both with the EXTNAME keyword, both pointing to the same file.
 Then I add the PREFIX keyword to one of them.  That way I can work with one
of them in the program, MOVE and WRITE when I want to.  This can be used for
before and after comparisons and writing log files.
