Re: Life without MS Office

About five years ago I bought a one-time license for my wife.  Not long after that I changed jobs and the "free" version that I had from my previous employer (up to 5 home installs for personal use) expired.  My kids were in high school and writing reports so I bought the subscription license.  Two are still in college so I'm sticking with it.  In another year or two I'll reevaluate.  It does look like Microsoft sells non-subscription licenses:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/what-s-the-difference-between-microsoft-365-and-office-2021-ed447ebf-6060-46f9-9e90-a239bd27eb96

I will never get totally away from Windows but I am getting more into Linux.  With that I usually install LibreOffice.  If it were just me, that would be fine but there have been times that I've been concerned about sharing documents with the outside world.  If you've gone for over a decade I would say that Google Docs and LibreOffice work well.

If they really want it, why not make them buy out of their own pocket?
Not to make it sound cold, but it's a preference issue more than anything.
