Disk Management says there's ~5tb.
File Explorer properties is what shows the 38gb.
Gotta wait for the CHKDSK to complete before formatting.

You might try running Disk Management to get a look at what Windows sees
about it. For a quick look you could also just open Explorer and look at
the properties of the disk. If formatting it is an option that may be the
quickest and easiest solution.

All,
I have a 5TB external USB drive that I use for quarterly Windows system
image backups for a number of desktop PCs.
This quarterly go round I reached the 4th desktop and it failed saying
there wasn't enough space on the disk. I always delete the old one I am
about to replace so this seemed odd. I looked and there was only 38gb
available.
I deleted all the images from the end of June and there's still only 38gb
available. It reports this on 3 desktops, including mine.
Any idea what is wrong? Do I need to do a quick format? Is it failing?
I'm currently running a CHKDSK on it which will most likely take all day
to
complete.
Thanks.
