I'm finding it difficult to see the post of this "feature". All it seems to offer is a different way to filter mailbox content - potentially I guess with less work than manually setting up a filer of smart mailbox.

Am I missing something?

So, what are your thoughts on plus addressing as per

Why are some companies opposed to it?

Issues I've seen:
- Some online form entries will not allow you to enter plus addresses. Apparently, they want to be able to sell you as spam and this makes you undesirable. Or they copied the same validation formula used by several sites in an attempt to validate email addresses using regex, java, etc and it has this stupid flaw. Another possibility is to cut down on people registering for a "one time free offer".
- Won't the spammers simply remove the plus sign and everything between it and the @ sign? Possible but some companies actually use plus signs in their email addresses and this will cause issues. They're also hoping that spammers are not that industrious as they are already looking for a cheap buck with a minimal amount of effort.
- If you are one of those companies which use plus signs in your address (Batteries+?) you may not want to allow this.
- Your sending address will not be the same as your inbound email address. So if I subscribe to midrange-l for example as rob+lists@xxxxxxxxxxxxx when I go to initiate a discussion and my email comes from rob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx instead of rob+lists@xxxxxxxxxxxxx the email will be rejected.

As an administrator it's not too hard for me to set up other separate inbound names for the same account but not so much for the general population here.
