For the benefit of anyone reading this thread in the future ...

In the end Tivo gave us no choice but to switch as when we tried to buy a new model they told us that they had stopped supporting Canada in December 2020! Would have been nice if they had told us that _before_ taking the annual subscription from our account in June of 2021!

As it happened - Tablo have a pre-black-Friday event going on and we were able to get a refurb Duo at a very low cost. So far so good and, as Bob pointed out, they are a Canadian firm so ongoing Canadian support should not be an issue.

My poor Tivo Bolt died this weekend and I'm trying to decide whether to replace it with another Tivo or get something else.

Tivo no longer sell into Canada but will support existing customers - but it does mean a trip to the US to buy one.

Current setup has the Tivo recording from my antenna with various streaming services providing the rest of my needs.

Initially I was looking at an Amazon Recast - but they are not supported in Canada for some god forsaken reason.

I do have a couple of older Macs that I could load some flavour of custom Linux on if that is an option


So what is anybody else using?
