The P50 is very nice. I was able to run 3 VMs on it at the same time. When I bought it I made sure it had 64 gig of ram and the Xeon processors. I've never had an issue putting it into sleep mode.

What ticks me off though is now I could get the P52 and cram 128 gig of ram :)

I've been doing Python off and on, but right now I'm working on a Python based QT app for Windows/Mac/Linux. It's taken a few weeks to learn what I need to learn, but I'm having fun with it.

That P50 is a nice monster isn't it ?

I've heard good things as long as you don't pout it into sleep mode 😊

You'll like doing Python.

FYI: I'm doing a Gotomeeting based Python Flask session for Magic User Group on April 30th. Check out here for more info.

I'd have to get you the model later. I'm at work and it's at home. But, what I'm going to be using it for is Python development. I've been working on a cross platform app for a few months now, and with buying this I can re-purpose my Lenovo P50 workstation for Linux and VMs, and use the Mac as my daily laptop. Then I can test the app on all 3 platforms. Just a side project really.

The built in keyboard on this one feels pretty good actually, but normally I just use an external one anyway.

Should work fine:

MS Office or Libreoffice
Filezilla
Vmware or dual boot for Windows Stuff

Which model ?

I almost pulled the trigger on the 32gb 2018 Model the other day. Was heavily discounted open box but I've heard bad things on the 2015-2018 keyboards.

What kind of dev you doing ?

subject: [PCTECH] Using a Mac as a daily driver.

So on Saturday I picked up a used Macbook pro. Over the years I've toyed around with the idea of using a Mac, but the cost was just way too high.
Then, I found a local place that sells used stuff, so I got a Macbook for about half the cost of new.

So I was just curious if anyone else is using a Mac for their daily driver, and what did you think of it?

So far I have everything I want setup on it and it seems to be working well.

Thanks,
