If the B1 is faster go with it. Mine also has USB 2.0 ports. You can hang drives off the USB ports. Newer ones have USB 3.x also.

FWIW: I don't hang any drives off the router directly.

I see the ASUS RT-AC66U B1 router for $94.99 on Amazon Prime. Looks like less throughput on 2.4Ghz, but a faster processor.
