Fast flash drive?

Folks:

Does anyone know of a very fast flash drive? I'm thinking SSD fast.

I run Parallels on my Mac laptop, but the main drive on the machine is only 256gb and I don't want to use up a lot of space with my VM's.

Currently I have a USB 3 connected external SSD that works fine ... but it's bulky and a pain to connect & disconnect every time I want to use it.

I've tried putting the VM's on a USB 3 flash drive, but the speed was horrendous.

I'd like to find a USB 3 flash drive that operates at near SSD speeds.
