It doesn't use a PC - it uses an iPhone or Tablet as the remote control.
I am pretty certain that the Chromecast does the streaming all by itself.

I control the Chromecast in my home office from a Chrome extension on my
PC. But the point is the same. The control device uses wifi to talk to the
Chromecast, which won't work when individual devices can't talk to each
other.

Rob, streaming is indeed a huge issue, as are online games.

One of my clients is a small, upscale hotel . They have 100Mbps for 180
rooms. My client provides ~500Kbps for free, and allows purchase of 2Mbps.
It also aggregates bandwidth per room so that one party can't monopolize.

I could be wrong, but I think the Chromecast works by the PC doing the

Have you thought about an HDMI cable and and a DVI or VGA adapter to
connect your PC to the hotel TV?

Yes - too much weight - I carry a number of cables and adaptors already.

But the whole point was I purchased the device because it was advertised
as perfect for travel. They now have all sorts of riders about hotels
because of the number of people who complained I would guess. But they
still say it is great for travel which is stupid.
