I wasn't so much missing the main point as trying to suggest something very
useful to carry considering its small size and weight. Its a great widget
to have in the travel bag even if you don't use a Chromecast or similar.
Also a great size to carry as a spare ethernet adapter.

Nice find on the Edimax alternative.

But it misses my main point - which is why the hell these devices don't
allow the capability anyway. It was particularly annoying with Chromecast
because it was advertised as the perfect travel companion and that all you
needed was your phone/tablet. Apparently only true if you never stay in
hotels when you travel. I just hoped that Roku would have learnt from
Google's mistake and was disappointed that they hadn't.
