Rob is pretty much on target as far as the reason that this process exists. The workstation macro launches the app interactively and deletes abended batches. Since the batch numbers are limited, this is something that has to be cleaned up frequently, thus the macro was born and has been working this way since before I joined the company.

Currently, the workstation/macro is kicked off manually every morning. (This is why it is on a Win7 VM - so it doesn't run unattended on someone's desktop.) Because we have started running weekend shifts, this needs to run 7 days a week and, since it works perfectly well as is, we only are looking for the ability to launch it automatically.

I am going under the suspicion that the macro goes through some screens
and takes options to clear them out. And he wants to use the officially
documented interface from the vendor and not try to cobble into their
files. I kind of have to applaud that. Failing the ability to contact
the vendor and see if they support such a batch interface, then an
alternative might be to use software like that available from
http://www.nutechsystems.com/
that will provide a batch interface, or even allow you to redo vendor
screens, without customizing the vendors software one whit. For example,
if your vendor's screen has 3 dozen fields on it and tab through all but
three then you could put up a screen that only prompts you for the three.
We use it for fitting BPCS screens on small handheld 5250 scanner devices.

However he probably feels he just this close to completing his project and
is not ready to give up quite yet. I can respect that. However I'm
pretty ignorant as to how to work with Windows Scheduler and whatnot.
Good luck.
