I've always tried to bear in mind that just porting/rewriting in .net
doesn't intrinsically make an app bulletproof. I've worked with many a
mission-critical app written in VB6, and in many cases there's no
tangible benefit to rewriting it just for the sake of using a newer
programming language. Some apps will continue to endlessly chug along
just fine on VB6/XP and a well written VB6 app does not have to be a
headache! :)

IMO, I agree that there/are/ times to rewrite, and there are times to
simply continue to hack the VB6 to do whatever new thing is needed. In
all the cases I've seen always it has always needed to be decided on a
case-by-case basis.

That's my $0.02.

Do you really want that headache when you can do something about it now?
