Sounds like virtually any 10" tablet with a good battery will suffice.

(The infrared port lets you use the tablet as a universal remote control)

You might even take a look at Windows RT. Heck, there are new tablets out
that use x86 (dual core Atom or Core i3) CPUs & run "real" Windows 8
meaning all of your existing PC apps will run on it. Microsoft's Surface
Pro and Acer's W510 are two examples.

Good point John. Let me start with some specifics of what I "need"

No voice dictation is required, although good to have.
I use GOOGLE Mail, calendar and contacts
Battery life/charging: at least 10 hrs avg. Any connector is ok.
Not interested in having a data plan.
Size. I do a lot of note taking.
Camera. Front-facing is not required. High MP resolution is expected.
Outputs. Is HDMI would be nice.
Screen. Higher resolution.
Storage. 32 - 64 GB.
Android
Infrared port. Not sure what is that feature...
Build quality: I am looking for all these features, not too pre-defined
by brands but by
Fast CPU.

If I can get one like this, probably I will drop from the idea of the
Nexus and get something even cheaper. However, I do not want it
refurbished.

Thank you guys for your opinions! Keep them coming...
