I have an iPad V3 with the Verizon network support (so it's an over glorified phone as well as a tablet) and use it to connect to client networks via VPN when I am out and need to respond the the system, (Mocha 5250 client). Works well and I like it quite a bit.

That said, during meetings I find myself pulling out the MacBook Air. It's easier to type on (I composed this message with it) and it's got a great display and battery life. Most importantly, it is nearly silent when typing on it so I'm not bothering others.

What I have not tried yet is one of bluetooth keyboards for the iPad. I suspect if I had one of those, the use of the MacBook would drop fast.

The one feature I wish I had on the iPad is using a stylus to take notes with. Maybe there is software out there for it, but I have not found anything as yet. I think that might be a strong influence feature for me if I replace the iPad anytime soon.

Pretty much a first time tablet user is going to be happy with any
tablet. Only after you've used it for a while will you really have a
sense for the features that matter to you. I myself am more interested
in battery life than anything else. My second requirement is the
ability to repair it myself, which eliminates any Apple product from my

but to show that what's important for me (or you) is not necessarily
captured by a review.
