In a couple of months we will have an employee off for maternity leave that
has expressed an interest in working from home (she lives 1/2 mile away)
during that leave. We will provide her with a spare laptop and let her VPN
into here. It would be a real help if we could provide her with a basic,
cheap PC printer for that laptop to print a few pages now and again from
the System i while she's on leave.
Haven't had a need for a printer in this type of setup in 15+ years. I
have a Brother MFC-J220 attached to my desktop that I've dinked around with
a bit today trying to get it to work in that kind of a setup. The printer
screen will say "receiving data" but nothing ever prints. A multifunction
is overkill for what we want and maybe the multifunction part of it is what
is causing no joy on the print.
Anyone have a nice cheap printer set up in this way where it just worked
out of the box? No faxing or copying or scanning is needed, just printing.
Would prefer a printer that uses cut sheet as we haven't had continuous
forms since I can remember.
Thanks.
