did you actually start Netserver ? STRHOSTSVR *NETSVR or started via
Ops navigator ?

You should be able to see a job QZLSSERVER in subsystem QSERVER if it
is active. There is also a job QZLSFILE that is the file share job
which may shed some light if there is anything going on at the iSeries
end of things.

The following tools might help you a bit as well, at least at the iSeries
end:

By mapping a drive to the system I mean using \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\ and
seeing what folders game up mapped.

The QIBM once is mapped by default so you can try connecting to that -
it might tell you whether the problem is with Netserver or the share
you defined.

Also do a change user profile on the profile you are trying to connect
with in case the netserver connection has been disabled. You just need
to issue CHGUSRPRF without actually changing anything.

You must create a file share first using Navigator.

Get into Navigator and go to files and open up file shares...

Create one name "root" as an example with a path of "/",
then go back and do your map using something like
\\192.168.10.2\root\home\mapped drive

I'm not able to map a network drive in Windows Explorer to our System i
(V5R1). I had to use the HOSTS table to define the name of the System

Domain panel - I entered MSHOME, which was one of the domains I saw

when

browsed during the Map Network Drive setup.

Logon Support panel - No

Guest Access panel - No

CCSID panel - 0 - Use iSeries NetServer CCSID (the default)

Idle Session Timeout - No 6000 seconds

Browse Announcements - No

WINS panel - No

Start with TCP/IP - Yes



I've never had trouble mapping a System i folder before, but admittedly

the

networks on which I worked before were pretty well set up; this one is

so

convoluted that I can't even print from Word to a PC sitting 10' from

me,

but I can print to one down the hall. So maybe that's the issue with

the

drive mapping.
