Along with your irony bit I find it odd that at every online store I've ever
been to I can restrict my search to a single brand (sometimes a group of
brands) but there's no way to exclude a single brand. For instance, looking
at a list of TVs and removing Sony from the list (Nothing against Sony; just
using them as an example) while leaving Samsung, Vizio, LG, etc.

I can cull the herd based on price and other features so the code to do it
is already in their app; why can't I remove the brand(s) I don't want?

shopping by using a tab; but you can't eliminate shopping somehow

You can add -cart to your search queries to omit pages with the work
cart on them. You can do that for multiple terms.

The minus operator can also exclude sites: -site:amazon.com omits
Amazon.com from search results. So does -amazon.com, BTW, but that will
also filter out sites that merely refer to Amazon as, say, a place to
purchase.

You might try the advanced search. I haven't used it in a while but
in the past you could enter words to omit. For example exclude sites
with 'best price' in their search. It really helps cut down on the
clutter. Not perfect though.

Is there a way to exclude shopping pages when using Google to search
the web? For example, I often Google a string including the words
"MC9090 scanner", which is a common barcode scanner here at ECHO; and
the top pages are all shopping pages when I'm looking for
troubleshooting, reference, tips and techniques, etc. types of pages.
