I myself would not run power over CAT5. If it were my wiring closet,
I'd pull an AC line up with fibre taped to it. I'd much rather have AC
available in a place where it isn't. It eliminates oddball gear on that
one piece of CAT5 and allows standard AC powered gear instead. It also
allows one to have a light, vacuum cleaner and a fan for those warm
summer days...
