Thanks for that link. It might come in handy for when we do the wife's
laptop since she got hers before the downgrade to XP option became
available and she has no Vista OEM recovery media to work with.

But for the record I did go to the Lenovo Support and Downloads website
and entered all the parameters specific to my laptop. I downloaded a lot
of stuff that was 'W7 compatible' (8 or 9 of the 56 different downloads
offered) but the laptop still didn't seem quite right and I couldn't get
the power management to work. I still have those downloads on my USB
drive, and perhaps if I get time I will compare what I downloaded to
what's available on the link you supplied.

That link looks a lot cleaner than what I used.

I spent one day trying to get things stable and that's when I gave up and
went with plan B.

By the way the Windows Easy Transfer Utility ROCKS!
