Tom, you may want to give KompoZer a look at some point. According to Wikipedia, KompoZer is a fork of NVu. It also seems NVu is no longer under development (http://www.glazman.org/weblog/dotclear/index.php?post/2008/09/29/BlueGriffon), while the author works on a new editor based on Gecko.

Although that question was mostly a joke, there's a serious element to it. More and more, I'm getting irritated at how out of control _some_ products become. At times, I approach the point of refusing to use Word or Excel again. Even the Open Office counterparts are starting to look suspect. Outlook...? Sheesh! Adobe Reader has almost gone past the point of usefulness.

IMO, product developers should regularly revisit the concept of a "MyProduct Lite" version. Google hit on a successful formula with their start page -- very simple and hard to misunderstand. I see Bing following kind of a similar formula, though it'll possibly keep getting more complex as time goes by. Yahoo goes a different way and includes too many distractions. WolframAlpha...? Well, it's not yet intended to be ready for prime time; so, who knows? It does have intriguing potential.

I'll definitely put KompoZer on my list to try. It'll be tough to find reasons (for me) to drop NVu, though. NVu is currently more than I need; but not quite more than I want.
