I hope you've been happily playing with your Powershot. Sorry to post
late, but hope it's helpful to someone. I've had two Canon Powershots
(broke the door that holds the batteries in on the first one with a
badly timed drop), as well as a Kodak point-and-shoot model. I found
the Kodak's operation more intuitive, but now that I've gotten the hang
of the Canon UI I vastly prefer it.
I can't comment on Canon's software, as I use now use Digicam on Linux,
but Kodak's photo management software is terrible IMO.
