Let me suggest the arrangement of a local DNS server serving a subdomain just for your part of the world. Something like outpost11.bigcorp.com, which then allow you to locally define and maintain names like www.outpost11.bigcorp.com and the like.

It is a one-time configuration thing for the DNS-administrators of bigcorp.com :)
