Appreciate that. I did study that earlier and concluded it was much more
costly over the long haul than having our own Exchange server.

Don't forget to look at hosted exchange too, a little more, but you've got
exchange on the back end. Might not matter, but if you want things like
blackberry support it might.

No, only that we haven't found anything else we like.

Over a period of years, various people here have tried Notes, Time&Chaos,
Act, Thunderbird with calendar, and at least one more that I can't
remember
right now. We keep coming back to Outlook.

We're looking for the functionality of Exchange w/Outlook. The vendor who
would sell us the licenses and set up the Exchange server suggested we
look
at Google Apps, which he would also help us set up (even though he stands
to
make more money with Exchange). A cohort of his in Indy switched a large
school system from Exchange to Google Apps and they love it. Saved them a
fair amount of money.

Just curiosity, Jeff. Why the decision to stay with Outlook? Is it a
political decision?

That didn't format well. The latter part of the post should have

We are seriously considering:

Using Google Apps Premier as our mail server and calendars
($50/user/year).

Using Outlook for email and synching the Outlook and Google calendars.

Other than Outlook, replacing all of MS Office with OpenOffice.

All,

I know some of you here have completely replaced MS Office with

OpenOffice.

Any of you using Google Apps Premier? Currently the System I is our
mail
server.
