One of my customers does this. Their bank (Fifth 3rd Bank) supplied the pc software and scanner.
After the batch of checks is in, user can update/correct - they have found certain color backgrounds affect the scanner.
Then batch is transmitted to bank.
Then option in pc to export a csv file - ftp to iSeries, and my
program applied the payments (they get a screen to view all the
transactions. I assign the customer id based on the check acct#
scanned - 1st time for a new customer user has to identify the
account - after that any laterchecks I can look up the acct.
Then post to AR.
They can scan 100 checks and deposit/post them in 15 -20 minutes.

Subject: [PCTECH] Check scanning/depositing

Is anyone here scanning their received checks before depositing into their
bank account? Or depositing them remotely into their bank account after
scanning?

Basically, who is using a more modern approach than endorsing the back of
the check, running tapes, and then physically taking them to the bank? Our
bank is National City and we're soon going to ask them how they can help us
in this regard. We're a very small business so I'm assuming our options
will be limited here.

Thanks.
