I have a date value in CYYMMDD format in column "A" and I also have number
of days in column "B". I just want to have a new date calculated based on
these 2 factors and I also wanted in the CYYMMDD format.
I did something similar when converting from BPCS date YYYYMMDD to JDE
date CYYDDD. It's easiest to debug if you do it in steps in each cell.
Here's how to do it by cell:
A1: 1081218
B1: 21
C1: =DATE(LEFT((A1+19000000),4),MID(A1,4,2),MID(A1,6,2))
D1: =B1 + C1
E1: =CONCATENATE((YEAR(D1)-1900),TEXT(MONTH(D1),"00"),TEXT(DAY(D1),"00"))
Note this will only work for the 1900's if the 0 is stated.
